Hylke & Anders adventures in Greece!
We flew on the island of Corfu: A quite big island to the north-west of Greece.
We landed late in the afternoon, so the only thing we could do that day was
finding a bite to eat and a cheap hotel.
So no time for photo's on Corfu but we'll come back here later on!
The second day of our holiday, we went to the Vikos Gorge on the mainland of
Greece.
This gorge is the deepest in the world. The first day we walked through it.

On this map, scroll all the way down first: This is where we started!

Ready to enter the gorge! If i would have stepped forward here, i would have
fallen down about 800m.

Same counts for Hylke, my travel-companion

No, i could really not see the bottom of the gorge!

Or is it there...?

Ah, here it is!

Solid stone walls rise about 1000m above us!

Dry but green landscape!

Still a long way to walk!

Once in a while we entered forrests. They sometimes looked like taken from a fairy tale.

Here a spring marks the beginning of a small river! De water just poures out of
the ground. Strange!
Every time we encountered one, we held a spring break.

At the end of the gorge we had to climb out of it. From 500m we climbed to about
900m where
a tiny town lied with about 50 inhabitants.

This rock was funny because it was kind of yellow-blue. The picture doesn't show
this very well.
Do you see me at the bottom?

Here is this tiny town! It is called Micro Papigno. We slept here the first
night.
